Organize activities for your children
Minister for Education, Mr Filipe Bole said with no external examinations for primary and form four students, there should be activities provided and organised at home to keep children occupied.
“Unplanned activities and no adult supervision often lead to accidents and loss of lives, so I am reminding parents and guardians to have a plan for their children during these two weeks holidays,” Mr Bole said.
“This will be a good chance where children can catch up on their reading and review their book during the family evening session. Starting a vegetable garden, chicken rearing, swimming and craft classes, learning the traditional ways of food preparation and preservation are some suggestions that can fill up the students’ time.
It is also imperative for parents to know their children’s whereabouts at all times, especially with organised activities in local municipalities.
“A 30 minutes or a one night of ‘fun’ unknown to parents can wreck a child’s future and the entire family regretting, so it pays to monitor your children’s activities,” he said.
The Ministry of Education is pleading with parents and community members to work together in the care and safety of our children from the social ills.
