Fish Venture for Sugar City

$36m fish venture boosts city


LAUTOKA business leaders have lauded the launch of a $36million fishing and fish processing venture at Lautoka Wharf.
Special administrator Praveen Bala said the city welcomed any business initiative that boosted its profile and provided employment.
"I thank this company for choosing Lautoka Port, which is a recognised port of entry, as the base for its operations in Fiji," he said.
Lautoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry administrator Mohammed Salim said his organisation was enlightened by the new venture which also brought exciting possibilities for Lautoka's business and produce dealers.
"We would like to acknowledge the management of Gilontas Ocean Fiji and West and Central Pacific Seafood Limited for bringing this to Lautoka," he said.
"This will be a catalyst for growth in our agriculture produce supply, provide added income for fuel suppliers and dry goods merchants and provide employment for hundreds of people directly and indirectly associated with the company."
