iTaukei Board signs ITC agreement
The iTaukei Affairs Board and the Department of Information Technology and Computing Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding this week, inaugurating a partnership agreement for the development of a Management Information System for the iTaukei Affairs Board and the 14 Provincial Councils around the country.
Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs permanent secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the iTaukei Affairs Board, Mr Savenace Kaunisela, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Board and Provincial Councils with the Manager Information Technology & Computing Services, Mr. Eliki Salusalu.
The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to create a mutual understanding of the roles and responsibilities for both parties towards government’s govnet system.
There are two stages to the establishment of a Management Information System for the iTaukei Affairs Board and the 14 Provincial Councils; first is the connectivity to govnet and secondly the development of appropriate software program for the Board’s Management Information System. The Management Information Systems will play a critical role complimenting the reforms now taking place within the iTaukei Affairs Board and Provincial Councils.
The board has engaged the services of Dr. Jito Vanualailai of the University of the South Pacific as a consultant assisting the board in developing their Management Information System and to formulate a bidding processes for development of the software and to identify an appropriate training program. Dr Jito Vanualalai was previously engaged by the iTaukei Land Trust Board for the development of their Management Information System.
Early this year 2011, the iTaukei Affairs Board had undergone a restructure programme to effectively manage its operations. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding with the Information Technology & Computing Services demonstrates the commitment of the Board has to Pillar 4 of the Charter:- “Enhance Public Sector Efficiency, Performance and Service Delivery”.
